One thing specific to living near the sea
Worth saying because it saves people money in Kiryat Yam and coastal Kiryat Haim: salt air corrodes lock mechanisms far faster than inland. A cylinder that would last fifteen years in Nesher can seize in six or seven here.
- The warning sign is a key that needs more force, or a lock that catches before turning.
- Use graphite lubricant once a year, not WD-40 — oil-based sprays attract salt and dust and make it worse over time.
- Deal with it early. Servicing a stiff cylinder is far cheaper than an emergency call once it has seized with you outside.
